10 Best Skincare Products for Dry and Sensitive Skin (2025 Guide)

If you have dry and sensitive skin, you already know how easily it reacts to the world. Cold weather tightens it, hot showers irritate it, “gentle” cleansers burn it, and harsh ingredients can set you back for weeks. We’re always hearing “your skin barrier is broken!” or “you just have really sensitive skin”, but no one tells you how to address it! Having dry and sensitive skin isn’t just a skin type, it’s a full emotional experience (I would know from having suffered through my entire skin journey my whole life). It influences your confidence, your comfort, your daily routine, and even how you feel about yourself in the mirror.

The right skincare routine, however, can completely transform how your skin feels and how you feel. When your skin is soothed, hydrated, and protected, your nervous system relaxes, your morning feels calmer, and your evenings become a restorative ritual rather than a battle.

This guide breaks down the 10 best skincare products for dry and sensitive skin; products that support your moisture barrier, reduce irritation, and help you build a routine that feels grounding, nourishing, and sustainable. I spent a lot of time balancing my skin care routine and have found the below products to be the most helpful after all my trials, tribulations, breakouts, allergic flareups, tears – you name it. And I say balancing because I don’t like to coin the term perfecting here. I have found that I’ve had to adjust my strategy to my dry and sensitive skin based on the changes in my external and internal environment.

It is important to note, there are a lot of factors that determine your skin health and appearance, and skincare alone won’t fix this if there are underlying issues. Things like your diet, level of movement, hydration, weather changes etc. all impact your skin health. Everyone’s skin is also very different and personal, so what worked for me is not necessarily guaranteed to work for you the same way either. It’s always best to practice due diligence and research into these products if you find yourself feeling unsure.

So think of skincare products like the icing on a cake – it’s uniquely yours based on how your create it (and your icing design won’t be identical to mine). It adds all the wonderful flavour and ties the foundations together, but you need a base to put it on, you wouldn’t just eat icing on its own (no judgement if you do).

What Is the Best Skincare for Dry and Sensitive Skin?

When choosing the best skincare for dry and sensitive skin, the goal isn’t to find the fanciest products, it’s to find the safest, gentlest, and most barrier-supportive options. People with dry and sensitive skin often react to fragrances, harsh exfoliants, or stripping cleansers, so the products selected in this guide are ones known generally for being soothing, hydrating, barrier-friendly, and widely tolerated by sensitive skin types. They’re all formulated to hydrate deeply, soothe inflammation, strengthen the skin barrier, and reduce sensitivity over time.

They are also chosen based on real-world experience, products that perform consistently, layer well together, and make a noticeable difference in how dry and sensitive skin feels day to day. Whether you’re looking for a gentle cleanser, a calming serum, or a hydrating night cream, this list focuses on skincare that brings comfort, stability, and long-lasting moisture to reactive skin types.

P.S. Realistically a 10-step skincare routine isn’t a must. The basics of skincare is just having a good cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen. Anything else is an extra but doesn’t mean it is unnecessary either. I like to add toners and serums in my routine because I find they help to hydrate my skin beautifully when it needs it most.

1. Barrier Repair

Your barrier is everything.
When it’s damaged, your skin becomes reactive, raw, red, flaky, irritable, and uncomfortable.
So the products on this list are all formulated to strengthen, reinforce, and protect your barrier.

2. Gentle, Non-Irritating Formulas

People with dry and sensitive skin benefit from products without:

  • Fragrance
  • Strong alcohols
  • Unnecessary essential oils
  • Stripping sulfates

Everything here is chosen because it’s calming and designed to reduce reactivity.

3. Comfort + Hydration

With dry and sensitive skin, texture matters.
You need hydration without heaviness, moisture without greasiness, and comfort without clogging.
Every product chosen fits this balance.

1. Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser

When you have dry and sensitive skin, even cleansing can feel risky, but Vanicream makes it simple and safe. This cleanser is non-stripping, incredibly gentle, and made for reactive skin. When you lather the cleanser, it very slightly foams up but after washing it off, it doesn’t leave any tightness like other cleansers normally do. Prior to this, my go-to was the Cerave Gentle Cleanser, and I recently had to change. I’m glad I did, as Vanicream feels so much better on my skin.

Why it’s perfect for dry and sensitive skin:

  • Fragrance-free
  • Non-drying
  • No harsh surfactants
  • Leaves skin soft, not tight

A calm, comfortable cleanser sets the tone for your entire routine, and Vanicream does exactly that.

2. Medicube Vitamin C Cream

A vitamin C product that actually works for dry and sensitive skin is rare. Most burn. Most irritate. Most cause redness. This often happens because different forms of Vitamin C products have different purposes, and without the proper research you may end up with the wrong type for your skin tone.

Medicube’s Vitamin C Cream uses a creamy, nourishing base that brightens without causing discomfort. I was a little skeptical before trialling it as I am with any new product, but it has become my staple. The cream itself is made of little yellow pearls encompassed by a clear gel. For my skin, using one pearl is more than enough for hydration. I also noticed some brightening after consistent use, but remember it isn’t a magic potion!

Why it’s perfect for dry and sensitive skin:

  • Brightens gently
  • Cream formula prevents irritation
  • Adds glow + hydration
  • Helps fade marks slowly and safely

If you want a gentle morning brightening step, this is one of the best options to layer before your moisturiser.

3. COSRX Propolis Light Cream

Now, Propolis is an ingredient that won’t work for everyone. Many people have indicated finding it irritating but not because it is harsh, but because it is an ingredient not everyone can tolerate and sometimes can cause allergic reactions too. If you do buy this, make sure you do prior research and a patch test. I found this cream to be hydrating, soothing, barrier-building, and glow-enhancing, without it being too heavy in the mornings. It pairs well with the Medicube Vitamin C Cream without causing too much greasiness and I never experienced any irritation from it. This is also a staple for me.

Why it works:

  • Calms irritation (when Propolis is tolerated)
  • Adds a healthy glow
  • Hydrates without heaviness
  • Amazing under sunscreen and over Medicube Vita C Cream

This is one of the easiest moisturisers to fall in love with for dry, reactive skin (if you can handle propolis).

4. Beauty of Joseon: Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh : Rice + B5 50ml

This is a holy-grail sunscreen that feels like a moisturiser. Now this sunscreen is actually formulated for the more oilier skin types. However, I found it fits perfectly in my routine, especially in the summer when it gets hot and humid. It goes on really smoothly and has a matte finish without it actually being drying.

I have tried many sunscreens over the years trying to find the best fit – from chemical to mineral you name it. The ‘gentle’ ones always burned, the ‘no-cast’ always left a cast, and most sunscreens would always make me feel greasy. This is my best-kept secret but it’s time I stopped gatekeeping, especially for my POCs! Once you have applied this, there is absolutely no white cast after a few seconds, and you don’t even have to go through the trouble and pain of really rubbing it into your skin. If there is ONE product you buy from this list, let it be this.

Beauty of Joseon also have the Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotics 50ml which is specifically formulated for dry skin. It’s more richer, less of a matte finish and may leave a very very slight white cast. I also found it made me a little greasy by the end of the day. However, if you are worried about trying the Sun-Aqua due to it being formulated for oilier skin, this might be for you instead.

Why it’s one of the best for dry and sensitive skin types:

  • No white cast
  • No pilling (this may vary depending on what you are layering with)
  • No oily residue
  • Works well over light moisturisers
  • SPF 50+ and PA++++ (highest UVA & UVB protection)

Sunscreen is a must every.single.day no exceptions – especially if your barrier is compromised. This one protects without suffocation.

Dry and Sensitive Skin

5. Madagascar Centella Quick Calimg Pad

Toner pads are a nice add-on to your routine, it’s not a must-have. For dry and sensitive skin, these Centella pads add a nice layer of hydration without being irritating. Unsurprisingly, they have felt calming when my skin has been irritated. Out of the different toner pads I have tried, I found these Centella ones to be gentle on my skin.

Why they’re amazing:

  • Hydrate instantly
  • Prep the skin for your serum
  • Reduce flakiness
  • Softens the skin barrier
  • Easy and quick to use
  • Come with little Tweezers for hygiene purposes

They’re great for layering hydration without irritation.

6. SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule

If your dry and sensitive skin ever feels hot, irritated, or tight, centella is your best friend. Again, like the pads, they are not a must have, but I found that adding this to my routine improved my skin texture and smoothness over time. It makes your skin glowy and provides extra nourishment.

This ampoule is basically liquid comfort.

Why it’s amazing:

  • 100% pure centella
  • Ultra-light
  • Skin-calming
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Safe for daily use

Perfect for restoring balance on reactive days.

7. Vanicream Moisturizing Cream

This is a classic for a reason. It’s a rich cream that locks in hydration without clogging pores, perfect for night-time recovery for dry and sensitive skin. The only thing to note is that you will notice the whiteness of the cream because of its heaviness, so you may find you have to work it in a little bit to get rid of the white cast. It also dries down nice and somewhat matte so you don’t actually feel the heaviness after it’s settled in.

Why it’s great:

  • Extremely hydrating
  • No fragrance
  • No irritants
  • Protects the barrier
  • Works well as a night cream

Your skin will feel cushioned and protected overnight.

8. COSRX Honey Glow Propolis Cream

This lighter night cream gives dry and sensitive skin a beautiful honey-like glow. It’s super nourishing, somewhat light, and great for when your skin is dehydrated or dull. Again, just remember propolis is not well tolerated by everyone so do a patch test. I don’t notice any fragrance with this product. It literally looks almost like honey out of the tube but definitely isn’t sticky or heavy like it. I glow at night. I actually use this more than the Vanicream moisturiser because I like how it goes on dewy and hydrating.

Why it stands out:

  • Deep moisture
  • Lighter consistency
  • Smoothing
  • Long-lasting hydration

It’s like a recovery blanket for your face.

Dry and Sensitive Skin

9. Olay Regenerist Retinol24 Face Cream Moisturiser, 50g

Now retinoid is a hard one for dry and sensitive skin because most of the derivatives of Vitamin A can be very irritating if you aren’t looking into what you are getting. Retinol is a much gentler version of Vitamin A and can come in forms like serums or creams. I find that not many people tend to use a cream version of retinol, but this is the most doable version, in my humble opinion, when you have dry and sensitive skin.

The Olay Retinol24 cream is so gentle. When my skin texture is not the best and when I find myself looking dull, I reach for my retinol. I don’t use it as consistently when my focus is on repairing my skin-barrier, but once I’m out of that phase, I try to alternate every 2-3 nights. My skin appears brighter and even the next morning and I don’t breakout as often. You will notice some dryness when you introduce any kind of retinol into your routine so it’s best to do your research prior AND to go in very slowly.

Just remember, retinol isn’t a barrier-repairing product – you will first flake because it sheds your old skin to regenerate new skin cells. So you do have to be patient, it may take a few months for your skin to actually get used to it. I started using it once a week to see how my skin would adjust, then after two weeks I increased it to 2x a night, then after three weeks, 3x a night and so on.

You also need to be careful of the other products you are layering with – for example, you shouldn’t layer retinoid with vitamin C or exfoliating ingredients like BHAs/AHAs etc. This leads to more irritation and sensitivity. Always look into the ingredients of your other products and learn how to layer what you do have. Sometimes it isn’t the product that is irritating, it could be how you are using it or certain ingredients reacting with one another. I always use the Medicube Vita C Cream in the morning and Retinol at night. I don’t change my night cream or centella serum when I do this either, as for me they layer well.

Why it’s essential:

  • Restores glow
  • Repairs overnight
  • Helps prevent frequent breakouts
  • Smooths texture
  • Supports skin cell regeneration

Use 1–2 times per week for best results.

10. Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask 75 ml

The Medicube Night Mask is wonderful for nights when your dry and sensitive skin feels drained, tight, or tired. It’s not a must, but it is a nice add on. So far, all Medicube products have been good to me, including a few not listed in this guide. Again I was skeptical about this as it seemed really overhyped, but it truly does leave my skin plump and almost glass-like the next morning. I find my daytime routine is a lot easier to apply after I peel the mask off and I also don’t need to go in with my cleanser after either.

The mask acts more like an occlusive as it locks in moisture, so I wouldn’t recommend for you to rely on it alone to provide moisture and hydration. The retention of moisture helps improve the skin-barrier because it reduces the trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) overnight. While the plump and healthy effect after removal may be addictive, try to use this 1-2 nights a week when your skin needs extra care instead of as a daily staple.

Something to note, it doesn’t always pull off easily, especially if you have a lot of tiny hairs on your face it can be a bit painful as it sticks to them. However, application is really easy, you just apply it all over and wait 15-minutes till it’s no longer wet (you won’t have any sticking to fingers when you touch the mask). Also, avoid using this on nights you use retinol.

Why it’s a nice add-on:

  • Restores glow
  • Repairs overnight
  • Locks in hydration
  • Has a plumping effect after removal

Use 1–2 times per week for best results.

Conclusion

Caring for dry and sensitive skin isn’t about expensive products or harsh treatments. It’s about choosing gentle, soothing essentials that support your barrier and bring comfort back into your daily routine.

When your skincare is soft, calming, and consistent, your skin becomes healthier, and so does your overall wellbeing. Your routine becomes a moment of connection, grounding, and self-kindness. And with the right essentials, your dry and sensitive skin can feel hydrated, soothed, and supported every single day.
